Let the training begin!

Wow things have been busy around here lately! But I was finally able to sit down and make my training schedule for the TCS NYC Marathon! I am not happy about the fact that I have to train during the HOT HOT Florida summer but I’ll make it work!

When I set out to train for a marathon, I like write everything down. I usually get a journal and set up my schedule until race day. It helps me in more ways than one. I can keep track on my training day for one, being a mother runner, things like life get in the way of training. So sometimes I have to switch days around to make it work. Another thing I do is I make some quick notes on what I ate, how the weather was, and how I felt overall.

Having thins written down, I can always go back and see what worked for me and what didn’t.

Even though I am out with a knee injury right now, I still made my training to start in April. I’m starting slow with low miles as usual. Even though Alpha isn’t running NYC with me, he will still be out there with me just to show support and obviously for safety. I will have to cross into a few different parks that are notorious for snakes, bears, and alligators. I can’t outrun any of them. LOL

I am very excited about this race and have imagined myself running through the streets of New York in  Autumn.

I will be using an awesome journal to document my training journey with a JournalMENU. Have you heard of them? They are perfect!

There are guides for training multiple distances, useful tips, and on each day there you can write all your notes. What you ate, cheat meals, and how your run went. Another thing is that each page has a motivational quote on the top. You can use that as your running mantra for that day, especially on those long hot runs.

Now for the GREAT part….I have team up with JournalMENU to GIVEAWAY (1) customized journal to YOU! Yes! Here is your chance to win one of your own. You can design it however you want or check out the premade journals on the website. She dedicated mine to my training for the NYC Marathon and gave the cover and back a NY theme with the NYC skyline. I LOVE mine and it’s so simple and easy to use.

Good Luck to you! I am not a runner, but a wunner!! I walk more than I run due to two back surgeries and facing a possible third. This has not slowed me down though! I am walking my second marathon this fall and my goal is to walk it in less than 6 hours! I walk faster than some runners, so I am hoping!!! I have been following you for some time and you are aspiring to all!
