It’s that time of year again. That special day where runners from all over the world come together and celebrate the joy and love running brings us. Global running day was starting in 2009 by large running organizations and has been happening on the first Wednesday in June ever since. This year it’s on June 1, 2016.
Something that they are doing this year that I am just loving is the Million Kid run. The goal is to have a million kids from all over the world to pledge to run on June 1st. The Million Kid Run is show kids that fitness can be fun, and inspire them to run and be active.

You can sign up and pledge to run miles as well as your children. You can do anything really. From a lap around your block, to a few miles around the park. Just have fun with it. I’ve done this every year since 2009. I started off by pushing my little one in the stroller and now he is running with me, waaay ahead of me actually. LOL
If you don’t want to run alone, or want to celebrate it in a bigger way, you can check the website here for events in your area. I am exciting that Track Shack will holding an event again! They held it a few years back that ended up staying permanently as a Wednesday night fun run.
I will be at the Track Shack event with the family and we are so looking forward to it. They will food, water, ice-cold drinks, and swag for all participants after the run. And of course, they will have raffles prizes too!!! So if you are a local or will be in the area, why don’t you come out and join us to celebrate Global Running Day???

If you haven’t gone to a Wednesday weekly run, the distance, and pace is pretty much up to you. The place is on the Urban Trail towards Loch Haven Park. It’s about a 3 miles distance but it has a loop where you can do 2 miles if you’d like. If you do plan on joining Track Shack make sure you RSVP here and the event is free. I look forward to seeing you there!

great post. I am going in Run Melbourne event for 10 kms. What tips would you recommend for new runners to do in the lead up to their marathon besides training?
I would focus more on spending time running than worrying about increasing mileage or speed. Work your way up on mileage during your training. Right now, get your body used to the demands that running puts it through.
I did do about 9 weeks now. Still have another 7-8 more weeks to go
