To the BIG cheese and his MAIN squeeze!

As a HUGE Disney fanatic, today is a day that is always on my calendar as a regular family member’s birthday. I remember it every year, and we celebrate it every year. It’s Mickey Mouse’s birthday! Without him, the world of imagination and magic wouldn’t exist.

Of course you all know who Walt Disney is right? One, if not the most creative, grown up with a child like spirit ever. Before there was Mickey, Walt Disney created another character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, for film producer Charles Mintz. Oswald’s ears were long, as was his nose, and his feet were black with no shoes. But his face was very similiar to what later become the Walt Disney Company’s most iconic image. Even though Oswald was Walt Disney’s creation, Universal legally owned him. When the Disney Brothers Studio asked for more money, Mintz refused and took ownership of the character, and retained almost all of Disney’s employees.( read more at Bio.com/Mickeymouse)

From this Mickey Mouse was born on November 18, 1928 along with his main squeeze and forever soul mate Minnie Mouse ❤ Even though they appeared in a previous test screening months earlier in Plane Crazy, Steamboat Willie was their official debut.

Fast forward a little…he has appeared in over 130 films, with I think Fantasia being one of the most iconic ones. Many of his cartoons have been nominated for awards, one that won. And in 1978 he was the FIRST cartoon character to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame.

You can’t go into any Disney theme park in any part of the world without seeing Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse all over the place. They both bring so much joy to kids and adults. I go to Walt Disney World when I get the chance and the magic the place has and the happiness it brings me is always there.

We visit Mickey and Minnie and it will ALWAYS make me smile and I am a grown woman. There is nothing like getting a hug from Mickey Mouse. It’s just a little sad that Walt Disney never really got to see his entire dream realized but I’m sure he does in a way. But today we celebrate the cutest couple I know!
