What’s your tint?

Migraine is one of the world’s most common health conditions and one of the most common neurological diseases. About 39 million people in the United States and 1 billion worldwide have migraine. This makes migraine the third most common illness in the world.(Information from migraine.com) With the majority being women, it still lacks sufficient funding. Though we find ways to battle through each attack.

Being a migraine advocate, I bring you the latest that has helped me fight through my attacks. Because mine become beasts. They are on the severe side and are debilitating. It’s been a difficult journey trying to pinpoint the best treatment as there isn’t a cure for migraine. So I currently am on the lookout for the best ways to survive my bad days.

Zenni has quickly become a very popular eyeglass wear. They are known for their affordability, large variety of styles and colors, and quality. Now they have come out with migraine lenses.

These lenses fit from a select collection of frames you can choose from. These are the FL-41 lenses and they come in 3 different tints to provide comfort, and therapeutic relief, helping restore your sense of well-being.

There is the 25% tint which is recommended for indoor use for mild sensitivity to fluorescent light and screens.

There is the 50% tint which is recommended for indoor or outdoor use for moderate sensitivity to indoor or outdoor light and screens.

Finally, there is the 80% tint which is recommended for outdoor use and intense light sensitivity.

The reason for these tinted lenses is because, certain wavelengths of colors within the sun, screens, and fluorescent lights can trigger a migraine attack and these FL-42 lenses filter that out making it easier to function throughout your day. Let me mention that they do filter out some of the blue light wavelengths which is a bother to some people.

When I first received my migraine Zenni lenses, I was going through a migraine attack. I put on the 25% tinted lenses on and went about my day. I immediately felt a relief of tension in my eyes. You know that eye strain you feel when you are on the computer working too long and the eye strain turns into a headache or migraine attack? Yeah, that one.

I kept them on the rest of the night until I went to sleep. While yes, they do not get rid of migraine, they can certainly prevent one if you know yourself well and can tune into your symptoms and when you sense an attack coming. I am still learning that. Plus, I have Lyssa who can sense those days ahead of me.

Mine are prescription lenses. I do go from contacts to eyeglasses and my migraine pairs are prescriptions. So that surely made a big difference with the eye strain and head pain relief. Although, you can get them non-prescription as well.

Take a moment to look around at what Zenni has because they have frames for every type of face shape and they start at $6.95 yup! All the cool kids are doing it! 😉
