In January I ran my first full marathon at the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. It was my second time participating in that even as the previous year I ran the half marathon representing TEAM ASPCA. In January, I ran the full with my best friend and Alpha. As most of you know, it wasn’t easy. I dealt with a lot of pain, but one things was for sure…I NEVER gave up. I ran and ran and ran, yes it took me a VERY long time to get to that finish line but I got there with my two best men by my side!
It was hot, and it was brutal, but guess what…I’d do it again in a heartbeat!!! And I AM!!!!!!
Alpha and I have signed up for the Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge for 2015!! Yes I am out of my mind! But I am excited and ready to start training for this monster distance. The weekend is on January 7-11, 2015.
The Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge consists of running a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a marathon (26.2 miles) back to back! It totals 39.3 miles in two days!!! It is a course that runs through all the Walt Disney World theme parks, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center. Alpha already did the Goofy Challenge 2 years ago, and was spent but he was happy and proud to have earned his medals!!!
That is the other thing too, you get 3 medals! The half marathon medal, the full, and the Goofy Challenge medal!!! They have announced that they are changing all the medals again for the 2015 series, but they have released the Goofy medal and it’s awesome! It flips!

I enjoy doing Disney races because there is so much to see and so much on course entertainment! They have characters, dancers, DJs, CHEARsquads, at EVERY mile and between. The roar of the spectators is so moving and empowering!! I am not brave enough to do the Dopey Challenge which is a 5K, 10K, half and full, but hopefully one day I will run it.
Alpha and I will, as usual, be in costumes that are yet to be determined 😉 We are also taking part in the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in November. We will be Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
It would be so awesome to meet you all who will be there! I LOVED that so many of you recognized me on the course and stopped to say hello. We can do a meet up at the Expo or somewhere, I’ll figure it out once we get closer.
I have been already been sort of training for by running every day. I run 4+ miles each day to get my body used to back to back running. Running every day has helped increase my speed, my endurance and gets my body used to constant movement. It’s still debatable whether running everyday is bad or good for you. But so far for me, its working out! It keeps me healthy, and I deal with less pain. I will start training completely after Summer because the Summer heat is killer here in Florida!!! I will keep you all posted and will share my training schedule if you all want to follow along!

Congratulations! That is so exciting. I definitely have a Disney race on my goal list and can’t wait to register. Looking forward to hearing all about it!
I just signed up to run the marathon again too! I was debating on Goofy, but just didn’t want to spend quite that much money – although I know it would be worth it. I would love to meet up with some bloggers this year!
Awesome! =) I will plan a meet up with my followers but not until closer to the day.
