Be a dreamer

I just wanted to take a little moment and remind of you of the importance of chasing your dreams. What is a dream? A dream a goal with a deadline. I have always been a dreamer, I have always wished and hoped for things to happen. But they won’t happen if I don’t chase them right?

I have been working my butt off to reach my New York Marathon dreams. Lately, things have been really tough as recently finding out that my spine is curving, I’ve been feeling it. Is it weird to say that I can feel my spine move? I get this odd intense pain that lasts for a while and I can’t find relief for it. I swear that in those moments is when its moving. Anyway, I’m well into the double-digit distance in my training and I will admit, it’s tougher than before. This isn’t my first marathon but definitely running into a few firsts. But you all know that I always find a way to reach my goals.

I know that we have our bad days, or even moments where things are just not working out. Reaching goals seem impossible, everything is falling apart, you are losing hope..that happens. It’s a part of life, but it happens for a reason. That is where you stumble across your true strength.

I can’t tell you how many obstacles I’ve hit, and continue to hit, but I never get discouraged. It’s almost like a challenge, I gladly accept. I know I can run the 26.2 miles, it’s just taking me a bit longer to get there. My dreams are much more powerful than any obstacle. Just think of your goal when you hit a wall, imagine yourself crossing the finish line. Think about how you will feel once you’re toeing the start line. Those should be reason enough to fight and keep going.

Being a dreamer is having a goal. Having a goal that you will do whatever it takes to turn into reality. It won’t be easy, it may be painful, and may test you to see how bad you REALLY want it. Bottom line is…you do want it. You want it so bad you think about it constantly, you talk about it, you share it, it makes you happy. If you fail, it just means you’re trying, and you have to get back up, lace up those shoes and try again. Never lose the faith within you. Your mind is VERY powerful and if you train it to see the potential in you, you’ll get to that goal.

They say that to be successful, you should surround yourself with people who support and help motivate you. I am lucky to have a massive amount of support! As of late, my friend, and ASICS teammate SHARP who is always there to listen about my pain complaints, supports me, and checks up on me. I feel honored to call him a friend. And my sole sister, Joanna, who has been there through these hard past few months. When I am out there running and I’m struggling, she will lace up her shoes and virtually run with me so I’m not alone. No judgement, unconditional friendship. I am lucky to have so many people who have my back…see what I did there?? It’s been an overwhelming amount of support, which I am forever grateful for ❤friends

Having such BIG, strong dreams is a good thing. It will make you work hard to reach them. It will make you sweat, cry, smile, and keep pushing. A person with dreams is VERY powerful, because they will stop at nothing to turn them into reality. So keep fighting, keep wanting, keep going. Don’t let anyone discourage you or tell you it’s impossible, because those who said such things are probably the ones who KNOW you are going to make it and are wishing they had the desire you do. It’s OK if you have a bad day or two, just remember to get back up and try again. You’ll always have an opportunity to be successful so long as you don’t give up.
