It’s June already. Yup It seems like every time I blink, years go by. So much is happening everywhere that it flashes by. Am I the only one feeling this way? Since we hit June already, It is Migraine and headache awareness month. According to the National Headache Foundation, it is the 4th most common reason for going to the emergency room. How is that OK? We need to find better relief and more importantly a cure!
Anyhow, I am here to help you a bit with the many types of migraine, because there isn’t just one after all. Did you know that? My son battles with one of the rare ones called Ocular Migraine or Retinal Migraine. It is where the attack of visual disturbances happen in just one eye, not both as it does in aura migraine.
Some experience blind zigzag lines, floating lines, blind spots, and sometimes complete blindness. They don’t last very long but the migraine attack can happen before, during, or after all of this. And course, you’ll also experience migraine symptoms as well. Such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sounds/smell, that killer throbbing pounding pain that makes us want to scream. The experience is different for everyone, but this can all last from a few hours to days.
Now as a migraine fighter and advocate myself, I am doing my best to help others stay strong and find comfort, relief, and support. Thanks to my massage therapist for introducing me to these Therabody Smart Googles They provide relief by using advanced technology with soothing massaging, low vibration, music, and heat. It was made to reduce stress and soothe migraine and headache pain and eye strain. It has a built-in biometric sensor for personalized treatments designed to promote relaxation and lower your heart rate.

There are a lot of moves happening to help ease and help us live with migraine but not to cure it. I have a feeling we are far from it. I want to help find a cure or at the least find better treatment for us to live a healthier more “normal” life and not let this migraine disease dictate how our day will go.
